The 16th Research Symposium marks twenty years of CAPS and will be held over two days at the University of Melbourne.

What's new in 2026
The 2026 program is expanded in three ways:
- Two parallel sessions — STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine) and LBHSS (Law, Business, Humanities and Social Sciences) — giving participants dedicated platforms for discipline-specific presentation and discussion.
- A Technology and Research Outcomes Exhibition, showcasing innovative research, emerging technologies, prototypes and potential applications developed by young researchers and teams.
- A Young Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum, bringing together young scholars, entrepreneurs, industry representatives and investors around research commercialisation, innovation and career development.
Alongside these, the program includes plenary lectures, keynote presentations, student and young scholar presentations, panel discussions, and research and technology exhibitions.
Who attends
PhD and HDR students, young scholars, distinguished professors, researchers and industry leaders from universities and research institutions across Australia and internationally. The event is expected to attract hundreds of participants.
