CAPS turns twenty — the 16th Research Symposium is set for October

Two thousand and six to two thousand and twenty-six. CAPS was founded in Melbourne by a small group of doctoral researchers who wanted somewhere to present their work to peers outside their own department. Twenty years on, the association has more than five thousand members and works with over a hundred universities and research institutions.

We will mark the anniversary alongside the 16th Research Symposium for PhD Students and Scholars in Australia, held at the University of Melbourne over two days:

• 16 October 2026, 14:30–17:30 — Anniversary Celebration and Opening Ceremony, Science Gallery Theatre
• 17 October 2026, 09:30–17:30 — Research Symposium, Melbourne Connect

This year's theme is Empowering Tomorrow's Trailblazers. The programme adds a Technology and Research Outcomes Exhibition and a Young Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum alongside the plenary lectures and parallel sessions.
